Artist Statement
Born in 1947 in Bryn Mawr, PA, I was considered the artist of the family by the time I was 4 years old and would draw on anything and everything, be it paper or wall. I simply felt the urge to draw.
After moving to my mother’s home state of Maine in 1970, I attended Maine College of Art & Design and graduated in 1982 as a printmaker.
Over the years, I continued to develop my style and was particularly drawn to creating unusual landscapes and depicting creatures pulled from my imagination. I felt very fulfilled when I produced something that was unique, playful and whimsical.
Once I retired from my work as a Physical Therapist Assistant, I returned to my art with a focus on pen and paper. This led me to create the art that inspired my two self-published books: Froggie’s Mysterious Dream and The Process.
During the Covid pandemic I discovered Surface Pattern Design and took several courses to help me learn how to turn my art into repeating patterns. I started work in Adobe Illustrator and learned to adjust my pen drawings to suit this application. I have also developed a love for putting together colours that add interest and playfulness to my designs.
In my leisure time, you will find me walking in nature and visiting various Maine towns where I enjoy exploring and taking photos. I also spend my time reading, exercising, engrossed in deep conversations with friends and involved with my ever-enteraining family text chain.
